For the past 40 years I have been practicing yoga. There were times in my life when I suspended my yoga practice, but now I am convinced more than ever that my feet are firmly planted on the path of yoga. My experience in Hatha yoga has varied, as all styles of yoga have a Hatha yoga root. I’ve discovered that the muscular engagement and alignment principles of yoga reinforce my 18 years of massage therapy.

I began my Journey on the Yogic path in the early 1970’s. I attended a yoga class taught by a yogi by the name of Clint early every morning. Clint made sure that we understood that yoga is more than physical postures, so he introduced the class to the teachings of Ram Das, a well known yoga philosopher. Instead of music, Clint played tapes of Ram Das. I particularly loved one of his chants: "I am a bubble, make me the sea" and another of my favorites, "I know that I know that I don’t know, but sometimes I forget, and after every forget, I remember".

I am certified through the Yoga Alliance. I have trained with Di Tyssen, (adiaya.com) and now am a student of Rita Knorr (fulcrumblu.com), in the Anusara Yoga style -- a heart-opening practice of Yoga. The name of my Yoga Studio, Hrdaya Sattva Yoga, translates as Heart Light, or Heart Essence. Serendipity had a hand in leading me to Anusara, emphasizing the opening of the heart.
